To start a blog

This is a blog about food. Why is it a blog about food? Because I love food, but for reasons beyond that as well. I am a PhD student studying history and philosophy of science. This takes up a lot of my time, and in many ways, defines who I am. There are many things that I have given up to do this kind of work. One thing that I cannot give up however, is food. No one can. We need it to live, it sustains us. The great part about it, is that it also brings us together. When we end class, take a break at conferences, or adjourn faculty meetings...we then go out to eat together. What is better than eating out together? Eating really good food together. This blog is about just that.

The rest of the blog will be about food. Today however, I want to talk about blogs.

At least two friends of mine have blogs. Because they are my friends, they are the first two people who will be linked in this blog. I'm sure in no time people will pay me for such a privileged as to appear in this space, so these freebies won't last long. Both sites are worth checking out. If you have an interest on how the electronic culture meets the needs of people, both are good examples. The success of each is what I hope to emulate here, with my own topic.

Jai has created a website mostly based around her research. The blog surrounds her topic, and her struggle to write about that topic. It is impressive - she has blog give-aways and tons of followers. Who knew history and philosophy of science could be that cool? http://jaivirdi.wordpress.com/

Candice is an artist...as well as a lawyer and librarian. Her blog surrounds her creative hobbies. It has beautiful pictures. I am always shocked to think that without her site, I might never know this beautiful side of her. http://atouchofheart.tumblr.com/

I only hope that my blog could be half as important as these other two.
